Dalton attacked by tree

Poor Dubbs...he seems so prone to injuring himself these days. It must just be toddlerhood.

The weather here has been so nice this week, so Dalton and I have been playing outside a lot. We were kicking his soccer ball around for a while until he got curious as to what would happen if he threw it into the ditch that runs under the street. His curiousity turned to pure anger when he realized the soccer ball is gone forever, or at least until we get a good heavy rain to wash it out. Not that I didn't try. I was laying in the ditch with a broom stick for about 10 minutes trying to will my arm to be just an inch longer...Dalton leaned over me and tapped the side of his head with his finger and said "Think, think, think, Mommy"...he learned that from one of his favorite cartoons. So then I layed on the street and leaned over the ditch thinking maybe that would get me a little closer, and it did, but once I nudged the ball, it caught the grooves in the ditch and traveled even further under the street...it was a lost cause after that.

So Dalton started running around playing and trying to climb the trees. We have fresh mulch around the trees and as he was climbing the mound, he lost his footing and went head first into the tree. He thought for a minute, then started crying...I hugged him and kissed the boo-boo, then he walked right back over to the tree and head-butted it! I'm not sure if he was doing the instant replay for me, or trying to hit the tree back for hurting him. Either way, it made a pretty nasty mark on his head. But nothing a little Neosporin and lots of kisses can't fix!
