Hawaii

After waiting almost five years for a vacation together, Nick and I finally made it to Maui.  Kid free with five star accomodations for a whole week!  Yesterday was our first full day.  We enjoyed a catamaran cruise on a brand new sailboat to a private reef.  We snorkeled, lunched and took in the sun and the breathtaking views.  In the afternoon, we went to visit a friend who works at a nearby resort where we enjoyed delicious cuisine and very fun fruity drinks out of coconuts and pinapples.  We ended the day with cocktails on the lawn at sunset and a delicious meal on the beach.  It has been perfect so far.

Until this morning.  I turned on my phone as soon as I woke up, which was about 5 am local time.  I wanted to call my mom and talk to my babies.  I immediately saw a text message from a friend saying she heard of a tsunami headed our way.  About 5 minutes later we heard the sirens.  We've received word from the resort security staff that a tsunami is, in fact headed to the islands and it is expected to be a significant event.  We have been told to stay in our room until further notice.  We have received an outpouring of concern from our friends, mostly through Facebook, since our cell phone reception is already getting bad.

I've posted some pictures of our time here so far.  I hope to be able to post again later today, but we have no way of knowing what kind of access we will have to phones and internet after the tsunami hits.  Thank you for the prayers.  We are praying here, too and wish we could find a few other Believers here to pray with.  It is comforting to know how many of you are out there praying.  We love you all and hope to see you all very soon.

We will be updating on the blog and Facebook as we are able to.  Our love to you all.
