Nick and I have never been too big on celebrating holidays just on the day the calendar says we're supposed to. So our Valentine's Day started the night before. He brought home a dozen beautiful red roses and a card (it had an iTunes gift card in it which I've been wanting for a couple of months now!!) We snuggled on the couch and watched Big Brother: Til Death Do us Part and we're already hooked after the first week. We decided to turn in early and cuddle Dalton who was already asleep on our bed, but as soon as we got settled in for sleep, Dalton woke up and wanted to play!! We wrestled with him until about midnight then all drifted off for a short, but good night's sleep.
On Valentine's morning, Nick and Dalton got their Valentines from me, just cards and candy...Dalton loves Sour Patch Kids and Hershey's Kisses! Nana called to tell us Happy Valentines Day. She was always the best about Valentine's Day. We always had surprises first thing in the morning, something special in our lunch boxes and of course some little goody waiting for us when we got home. Maybe that's why I love Valentine's Day so much...she always worked so hard to make it special for us. Thanks Mommy!
Once Nick left for work, Dalton and I got started on Nick's Valentine surprise. I ordered a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Johns and Dalton colored his Daddy a precious homemade Valentine card. We got ourselves all ready, then stopped at the gas station for two more of Nick's favorite things: Diet Mountain Dew and Scratch-offs. We haven't been to visit Nick at his office in a few months, so he was very surprised when we showed up for lunch with all of his favorite things.
Dalton also got another special delivery. A Mickey Mouse Cookie Bouquet from Nana! It is really cute and he was super excited about getting it. We called Nana and he told her "thank you", "Happy Valentine's Day" (sort of) and "I love you Nana" about 10 times! I think she has the key to his heart!!
The cookie bouquet was a lot cuter before Mickey got eaten. Unfortunately Dalton was not patient enough for me to get a before picture...
We came home and prepared our favorite dinner: Garlic Chicken and potatoes with alfredo. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day making each other feel cherished and special and just appreciating what an amazing little family we have. Now I am getting ready to cash in on my birthday present from Nick/Christmas present from Amy and go spend the whole day at the Spa getting pampered! It's long overdue and I am more than ready!!
