There is really a lot to be said for staying "home". We decided after Memorial Day weekend that our little family has been on the road way too much and we needed to spend more time in Houston. Ever since then, I have to say we've all been much more relaxed...and happier too!! On the 4th of July we went over to our friends Brandon and Carly's house for a BBQ and fireworks. There were three couples besides us and we had a great time making new friends and catching up with Carly and Brandon. They have a 3 month old little girl, Milla and she is so sweet! Dalton was the life of the party until he crashed at about 7:30pm...so we had to wake him up to see the fireworks, but I think he thought it was worth waking up for.
Then this past weekend, Nick's parents came in town for a family reunion. Ronnie's cousins have an annual reunion and it happend to be in Houston this year. So I got to meet a whole lot of Shoffners in the extended family and Dalton got to meet some of his Poppy's aunts, uncles, cousing (1st, 2nd and 3rd!) There were four generations represented there and I thought that was pretty cool. Once again, Dalton was the life of the party and even got to play in the mud/swamp in the backyard for a while until the mosquitos became unbearable. Nick, Dalton and I finished out the weekend with a peaceful and relaxing Sunday afternoon. We cooked burgers on the grill and taught Dalton how to play "baseball" with his new ball and bat set. The perfect end to a wonderful week.
