No longer hunkerin'...getting the heck outta Dodge!

It's 6:06pm on Friday. Ike is supposed to hit us sometime in the next few hours. We're not hanging around for it anymore. We've been informed that we will most likely experience power outages that will last "several days". Being 35 weeks pregnant and having a 2 year old, I guess I got nervous and, well...here we are. On the road. I am able to get online and blog thanks to the miracles that are a laptop and an AT&T broadband wi-fi card. Other than the inconvenience of the power outage, we had a much more pressing reason to leave town.

Dalton takes heart medication 3 times a day to keep his heart ticking properly...he has taken it 3 times a day, every day since the day he was born. It has been made clear to us by his doctors that skipping even one dosage can be very dangerous, and missing an entire day could be fatal. Aetna Specialty Pharmacy fills the prescription for us and mails it right to our door and we normally have a new supply 3-4 days prior to running out. I called Monday to set up delivery for this week and they scheduled the medicine to arrive at our door via UPS by 10am Friday (today). We waited around all day and it never came. So I called the pharmacy, they tracked the package for me and gave me the bad news: UPS sent the medicine back and refused delivery due to the storm moving into our area. Great. I filled up syringes with the correct dosage to see how long we had until we'd run out. We only have enough to make it to Sunday morning. If we don't get more medicine tomorrow, by Monday morning my sweet baby boy will likely be in a bad way. We would most likely end up at Texas Children's. So my mom got on the phone and found a pharmacy in the Dallas area that will fill it for us tomorrow if we can get the Rx transferred to them. Aetna Pharmacy is closed for the weekend, but there is an on-call pharmacist who she left a message with...they will hopefully call back soon so an emergency situation can be averted. Your prayers are appreciated!! We are driving right this moment through a lot of very heavy rain and this pregnant, nervous wreck of a mom is just a hair away from being an all out basket-case.

Our neighbor is supposed to call us on Sunday morning to let us know how things held up at home. Nick is supposed to go to the office on Sunday to survey damage there and, as of now, is supposed to be at work on Monday...then return to Dallas on Tuesday for meetings. Dalton, Joey and I plan to stay in the Dallas area with family until at least Tuesday evening, then will return home altogether. We'll keep the blog updated as this drama continues to unfold. Love to all!!
