Just don't call him a big boy

With the rolling out of Dalton's "big boy room", we have been making a big deal about him becoming a big boy. He has his big boy bed, big boys don't wear diapers, big boys "go" on the potty, big boys don't use a pacifier...you get the idea. Trying to prepare him for his baby sister's arrival, we've been trying to pump him up about being the big brother...telling him how he can be a big boy and not a baby. He finally decided he's had enough of that talk and gets fightin' mad whenever we call him a big boy. He insists he is "baby Dalton", NOT a big boy.

So he doesn't want to sleep in his big boy bed, doesn't want to go tee-tee and poopie on the potty, cries for his pacifier and wants me to hold him like a little baby! AAHHH!! I have to admit, I kind of like that he doesn't want to grow up too fast...it's nice that he wants to snuggle a lot. But now I'm getting worried about how he'll react once there is a real baby in the house! There's not much I can do until he decides he's ready to be a big boy. So now I tell him that chocolate is for big boys and not babies, and the cool toy he wants at Target is only for big boys and since he's a baby he can't have it, etc. It may sound cruel, but I have to try something to motivate him, right? Or else I'll have a twelve-year-old wearing diapers and sucking a pacifier!!
