A picture someone took of the storm as it was approaching Childress:
By the time we got there, Nick's parents had cleaned up the mess and boarded up the busted windows, but the sight was still pretty sad. The roof of the house was totaled and their back fence was destroyed as well. Busted windows, flooded carpet and stripped landscapes were the common sight around town and it was sad to see. BUT surprisingly and fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries or deaths due to the storm...Praise God! We're in the process of helping to fix all the damage on the house and waiting for some assistance from the insurance company...the repairs will be costly, but when you think about how bad things could have been, it's a small price to pay! There is a prison in Childress and the inmates were out in full force helping with the clean-up around town. It was an interesting sight and I wanted to take a picture to share. I was trying to be very discreet, so it's not a great picture, but you get the idea.
There was a silver lining, though...we got in an unexpected visit with the family! Dalton, Nick and Poppy had so much fun doing boy things and we even took Dalton to the Childress pool where he went down the tunnel slide about 80 times! He got to play with Kennedy, who he totally adores and even got a couple hours of play time in with Korb, too!
Just going for a little walk
Stopping to squish an ant...
Nana and Papa took us out to a farm that belongs to some friends of thiers. Dalton got to meet some cows and horses, but his favorite part was riding the four wheeler with Daddy.
Before we left on Thursday, Dalton and Korbin did one of thier favorite things at Nana and Papa's house...pulled each other in the wagon. I have an adorable video of it, but it's 40mbs too big to post :(
We're returning to Childress next week for the 4th of July to do some work on the house and to watch fireworks with the fam...hopefully things can get back to normal for them soon!!
