A room fit for a Big Boy

With the new little one on the way, Nick and I decided it was time for Dalton's room to get a much needed makeover. He hardly spent any time in there anyway. His crib was basically a jungle gym, he refused to sleep in it anymore and his toys were EVERYWHERE, you could barely walk, much less play in there. So I have been scouting for the perfect paint color, furniture and accessories for about a month now. The theme was decided by so much of what we already had. When you have a boy, people tend to give you sports things, whether or not it fits with your decor. Dalton's nursery was NOT a sports theme at first, but it eventually became sporty because we had so much sports stuff that ended up over taking the room. So we decided to use as much as we could of what we already had and build the rest of the room around that.

I found furniture and bedding that I loved and picked a paint color with Nick's help. We sent Dalton to visit Nana in Garland for the weekend and got to work!

Nick and I had so much fun working on Dalton's room together. It was very theraputic for me and it was so nice to spend some one-on-one time with my husband...it's been way too long! We finished the entire room from start to finish in exactly 24 hours (beat that Trading Spaces!!). This included painting, putting a bed, night stand and dresser together, sorting through mounds of clothes and toys and adding the final touches. It was a lot of work in a little amount of time, but we did it!

Dalton's reaction couldn't have been more perfect. We had been talking about his big boy room and new bed for a few days, but I didn't really expect him to get it. He did though! He got home and asked to go see his big boy bedroom and he was all grins. Now he plays in there, watches videos in there and actually sleeps in there...all night!! We have a hard time getting him to spend time anywhere else in the house. I don't blame him though, I really like hanging out in there too.

Here are a few Before pictures. Please excuse the nakedness...Dalton really hates wearing clothes, shirts especially. So at home I don't make him. These were the only pictures where you can really see the room as it was before the makeover:

Yea!! My Big Boy bed! But, where the heck are all my toys??
Oh, okay...that's better!
Play hard, sleep hard.
